We’re excited to announce that the next statewide food shelf survey will be happening this year!
The 2019 Minnesota Food Shelf Survey provided critical information from food shelf clients about their Top 5 Most Requested food items and most valued Client Experiences. This data has informed local, regional and statewide priorities on food sourcing, food shelf layout designs, and client-choice strategies even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s process will continue to build on the foundation developed by SuperShelf in the 2017 and 2019 statewide surveys and look for ways to increase participation and engagement across the year-long process.
Key updates for 2022:
- Engagement events and working groups will allow for participation from food shelves and other hunger relief partners throughout the process (See below for more info on how to participate!)
- A Statewide Advisory Council will help support this effort (email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more)
- Hunger Solutions Minnesota will be the lead communicator with support from Regional Food Banks (So watch for further updates from us!)
- University of MN Extension and Foundation for Essential Needs (FFEN) will implement the survey with funding from Minnesota DHS, SNAP-Ed
Anticipated timeline and engagement opportunities for the 2022 Survey:
Stakeholder Engagement Sessions: Influence key themes for the 2022 survey!
Join us for a facilitated discussion about the most impactful data from 2019 and the data that will continue to guide improvements in food access and client experience. Themes from these conversations will influence content and question development for the 2022 survey as well as identify broader opportunities and needs for data collection in the hunger relief sector. There are two opportunities to participate:
Thursday, February 24th from 1pm to 3pm Register for 2/24
Wednesday, March 2nd from 9am to 11am Register for 3/2
Thank you for being a part of this conversation and work in the coming year! Look for regular updates from Hunger Solutions Minnesota and your regional food bank. For more information, contact email@example.com.
